“It is unfortunate that our judicial system is so deficient and unfair that we must wait more than 7 years to punish those guilty of assassinating our environmental defenders,” expressed Margarita Posada, representative from the Forum on Health.
ADES, together with the National Roundtable Against Mining organized the commemoration, called the Seventh Anniversary of the Struggle and Quest for Justice for our environmentalists.
The activity began with a mass and a political act, where social organizations showed their support to the communities of Cabañas by accompanying the anti-mining struggle.
For seven years they commemorated the departure of Dora Sorto, 8 months pregnant, and Ramiro Rivera, environmentalists assassinated in December 2009 for opposing the mining projects in Cabañas.
