Youth from the El Milagro community in Suchitoto continue with their learning process, part of the Youth Leadership Schools facilitated by ADES Santa Marta.
These spaces strive for the youth to identify problems in their communities and the country, but also, motivate them to plan collective action to confront these issues.
The problems that the youth identified were the lack of security, various forms of crime, violence, poverty, corruption, alcoholism, and violence against women.
For the youth from these communities, these processes are essential to improving the trajectory of the community. “These spaces help us understand, shine a light on, and show the talents that we as young people have, and to say that we are here ready to create a different reality,” said Susana Ruíz, a youth from El Milagro.
The community of Milagro, as well as Papaturro, Celina Ramos, and Palo Grande have formed part of the youth spaces that ADES facilities in the rural area around Suchitoto. ADES tries to establish the bases for young people to organize and positively support their communities.
